PING SBIR
Sonalysts’ experience with SBIR N192-094, Multiplayer Serious Game for Anti-Submarine Warfare Sonar Operator Training, provides another illustration of Sonalysts’ ability to produce robust multi-player simulations. Within this Phase II SBIR, Sonalysts developed a fun and innovative web-based multi-player serious game (called “PING”) to teach critical sonar operator Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) skills tied to team roles, operational displays, and Learning Objectives (LOs). Sonalysts adapted user role Artificial Intelligence (AI) sonar and undersea environment modeling from the SEII/GTS simulation framework into a containerized cross-platform server backend and used the Unity game engine to develop browser-based gamified operational displays and ASW team player interactions. Working with NAVSEA IWS 5 and support contractors, Sonalysts is planning to integrate PING into the training environment of onboard tactical systems as well as ASW classroom trainers.
