Sonalysts - Engineering: Regulatory Compliance

Regulatory ComplianceSonalysts is experienced in supporting operational compliance with Department of Energy regulations, particularly 10CFR830, Nuclear Safety Management.Sonalysts has provided technical and management support to DOE/NNSA Management and Operations contractors for the development, implementation, and evaluation of safety basis documentation and programs for nuclear facilities since 1992. This support has included assistance in the development and implementation of D and associated safety management programs such as the Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) program, as well as an assessment of the implementation of those programs and the appropriate safety controls.Sonalysts’ has been extensively involved in supporting the DOE in the establishment of Integrated Safety Management Systems (ISMS) throughout the DOE complex. These efforts included development of ISMS training materials, drafting of ISMS verification documentation, and conducting ISMS verification reviews. Sonalysts’ personnel have served as DOE ISMS verification team members for a number of facilities including: the Hanford site, the Idaho National Engineering and Environmental Laboratory, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, the Nevada Test Site and the Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. Sonalysts is currently providing support to the office of the Chief of Defense Nuclear Safety (CDNS), NNSA headquarters, including assisting with on-site assessments of the implementation of the Nuclear Safety Management Rule, 10CFR830.Sonalysts’ personnel provide support to a number of clients in the areas of process review and improvement, verifying the current status of operational and management programs and providing expert guidance on ways of improving the performance and efficiency of these programs. Prepared primary hazard screens for nuclear facility operations for Sandia National Laboratory (SNL)

Provided project management and technical support to SNL for the implementation of the Configuration Management Improvement Project, Phase I, at the Gamma Irradiation Facility

Supported the management review process following the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) FY 05 suspension of operations and assisted in the development of corrective action and improvement plans for a number of LANL Divisions

Conducted CDNS reviews of site implementation of 10CFR830 at the Nevada, Pantex and Livermore Site Offices

Developed and implemented corrective actions to Office of Independent Oversight and Performance Assurance (OA) Inspections of SNL

Provided support to LANL Engineering Science Application (ESA) division in the development and implementation of updates to the DSA and associated TSRs as well as development of safety basis documentation and programs for other ESA facilities

Prepared USQ Determinations for nuclear facility operational support at SNL

Prepared process training for the Safety Basis Department at SNL

Developed safety basis documentation, nuclear and non-nuclear, for the Safety Basis Department at SNL

Participated in DSA Independent Verification Reviews at the Y-12 Plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee

Assisted in the hazard categorization and safety basis development to downgrade a nuclear Hazard Category 3 Facility to a low hazard radiological facility

Performed several stand-alone hazard analyses for proposed modifications to a Hazard Category 2 Nuclear Facility

Provided support in development and implementation of safety basis documentation and programs including DSAs and TSRs, and USQ evaluations for Los Alamos Neutron Science Center, and the Material Science and Technology, Nuclear Waste & Infrastructure Services and Nuclear Materials Technology divisions at LANL.
