    Human Factors and Ergonomics Society 2017 Annual Meeting

    Waterford CT – Sonalysts recently presented research at the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society 2017 Annual Meeting.  Mr. Steve Dorton presented a paper titled “Going digital: Consequences of increasing resolution of a wargaming tool for knowledge elicitation.” This research is an output of the Wargaming to Augment Knowledge Elicitation (WAKE) portfolio within Sonalysts’ Human-Autonomy Interaction laboratory (HAIL) and focused on evaluating the pros and cons of using a low- and medium-resolution tool to facilitate scenario-driven knowledge elicitation with a diverse group of domain experts.

    Department of Defense Human Factors Engineering Technical Advisory Group

    Sonalysts has recently presented our work on design thinking methods to the Department of Defense Human Factors Engineering Technical Advisory Group (DOD HFE TAG). Mr. Steve Dorton (Sonalysts) led a panel discussion during the Human-Systems Integration/Human Factors Engineering (HSI/HFE) track entitled “Leveraging Design Thinking Concepts to Improve DOD Product Development.” The panel consisted of Mr. Dorton, Mr. Scott Tupper (CGI Federal), Mr. Chuck Curtis (NUWC NPT), and LT Nick Traglia (UWDC TAG). The panel discussion focused on sharing specific design thinking methods and insights, and a detailed discussion on how to make these rapid innovation events successful in a DOD acquisition environment and process.

    2017 Modeling and Simulation (MODSIM) World Conference

    Waterford CT - Sonalysts recently supported the 2017 Modeling and Simulation (MODSIM) World Conference, which was themed: Modeling and Simulation in the Age of Data. Sonalysts’ Mike Erwin presented a paper titled “Rolling the Dice: Using Low-Cost Tabletop Simulation to Develop and Evaluate High-Value CONOPS in Uncertain Tactical Environments,“ which focused on development of low-resolution methods to facilitate rapid innovation. Mike exchanged ideas with the members of the M&S community at the conference in Virginia Beach, VA.
